"Dwelling is not primarily inhabiting but taking care of and creating that space within which something comes into its own and flourishes". Martin Heidegger, from ‘Building, Dwelling, Thinking’, in Poetry, Language, Thought (1975).

What is the meaning of home? What does it mean to have, to create, to be, or to feel at home? How do different communities and individuals – migrants, refugees, minorities, the differently abled, the young, the old, those with and without physical homes – interpret the meaning of home? What can their distinct interpretations tell us about the meaning of dwelling, inhabiting, and creating a home in a world of instability, inequality and flux?

Home? is an open-forum ideas lab intended to inspire, challenge and provoke. Facilitated by Agnes Czajka (Open University) with the participation of artist and filmmaker Richard DeDomenici, Home? will reflect on, and preview some of the themes and questions raised by the making of The Democratic Set Milton Keynes, by Back to Back Theatre.

Australia’s Back to Back Theatre brings new forms of contemporary performance made by disabled artists to audiences and participants worldwide. The Democratic Set is a residency model and performative methodology that explores the belief that all people are, in principle, equal and should enjoy social, political and economic rights and opportunities. Creating a short film that captures a cavalcade of live performances and screen-based video portraits, Back to Back will use a custom-made film set to work in collaboration with the people of Milton Keynes.

On the eve of the film's premiere, Home? will encourage Milton Keynes residents, academics, artists and activists to creatively and collaboratively explore the meanings of home in a globalised world.
