Inside the Foreign Office: the Challenges Cacing UK Foreign Policy

Dates
Thursday, May 9, 2019 - 18:00 to 19:45
Location
National Library of Wales, Penglais Rd, Aberystwyth SY23 3BU

The BBC/OU Co-production, Inside the Foreign Office, captured the extraordinary world of the people working in some of the most complex and sensitive jobs in UK Government.

The Open University’s Dr Edward Wastnidge and Dr William Brown worked as academic consultants on the series. They’ll present their contribution to this production and talk about the privileged access the series had to the fascinating world of British diplomats.

We’ll then move to a panel discussion where our OU presenters will be joined by:

• Tom Cargill - Executive Director, British Foreign Policy Group
• Liane Saunders - Strategy Director and Strategic Programmes Coordinator, Foreign and Commonwealth Office
• James Vaughan - Lecturer in International History, International Politics, Aberystwyth University

The panel will take a critical look at foreign policy issues that came out of the BBC series including local, national and international standpoints.
