In keeping with Belfast’s rich industrial heritage, you will work with upcycled vintage Irish linen. While you stitch, you will have the opportunity to share your own memories of the city. Working with The Open University’s Heather Richardson, and a team of enthusiastic stitchers from the University’s Belfast office, you will co-create a piece of textile art that will celebrate the city in all its variety and contradictions. The event will form part of The Open University’s 50th anniversary celebrations taking place throughout 2019 and acknowledging the contributions it has made to opening up access to education to all!
Heather Richardson is a Lecture in English & Creative Writing at The Open University, creative writer and textile artist whose work often combines stitch and storytelling.
This event is organised by The Open University In partnership with Ulster Museum Belfast.
