Prior to coming to the Open University, she taught at UCL, Birkbeck and The University of Essex.

Isabella gained her PhD from University College London where she wrote a thesis entitled ‘Consciousness, Self-Consciousness and Introspective self-Knowledge’ under the supervision of Professor M.G.F Martin.
