COVID-19 and its impact on access to justice

In this video interview, recorded on Monday 1 June, 2020, Professor Sophie Watson, Head of Sociology at The Open University, speaks to Roger Smith. Roger is an expert in legal aid, human rights and access to justice. In this video, Sophie and Roger explore the various impacts COVID-19 is having on the law, with an emphasis on the impact that digital technology is having on the system of justice.

Roger is a visiting professor at London South Bank University, honorary professor at the University of Kent and recipient of an honorary doctorate from Westminster University. Roger was awarded an OBE and has worked for a variety of not for profit organisations in the field of human rights and legal services including JUSTICE, the Legal Action Group, the Child Poverty Action Group, the Law Society and two community law centres. He was responsible for a number of years for a newsletter on legal aid developments for the International Legal Aid Group.
