FASS held its first (re)Freshers event online

Refresher week picture

On Tuesday 22nd September, FASS held its first (re)Freshers event livestreamed on StudentHubLive, hosted by Karen Foley.

With 550 places booked, it was the most active Freshers event hosted by StudentHubLive so far, with the discussion already in full swing by 8.15 a.m. The sessions were designed as an introduction to the Faculty, how it teaches, and how its staff works with other units in the University to support students through their studies.

Hayley Ness, Jennifer Shepherd and Sharon Davis outlined the similarities and differences students may experience across the Nations of the UK and Ireland. Ed Hogan, Rachel Penny and Sally O’Reilly shared time-management strategies, providing really useful tips for students to take away. The event ended with a welcome from the Executive Dean, Ian Fribbance.

Feedback from students – who ranged in age from teenage to 85 – was incredibly positive, both during the event and subsequently.

HUGE thanks to all those who participated and stepped up due to necessary last-minute changes, and to those who helped organise and present the event, including the SHL and LDS teams, and Mark Simmons, Mika Minnitt and Jane Wallace.

You can watch the replay the event, including various feline cameos.
