Research in Arts and Social Sciences

The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences is engaged in world-class, agenda setting research tackling the most difficult challenges facing society.

Our research is interdisciplinary and critical, and internationally recognized across the range of our subject areas. As members of an academic community, we advance our knowledge and understanding through research and scholarly activity which contributes to the global research community and enhances the reputation of the University as a centre of academic excellence. Several major AHRC and ESRC funded projects are based in the Faculty. The results of the Research Excellence Framework 2014 show our research is both world-leading and has impact in the real world, informing our teaching and our knowledge exchange with academic and non-academic partners and the public.
