Games chief joins OCA board at “important juncture”

Marie-Claire Isaaman, Co Director & CEO | Women in Games

The Open College of the Arts (OCA), our partner institute dedicated to the Creative Arts, is delighted to welcome Marie-Claire Isaaman, Co-Director & CEO of Women in Games to its Board of Trustees. Women in Games is a small but mighty not-for-profit organisation, based in the UK with a global influence and impact. Its Individual Ambassador Programme encompasses over 1,600 women and allies in 75+ countries. Marie-Claire is also a Trustee for the BGI: Transforming Lives with Games and Chair of the Industry Liaison Group at Futureworks Manchester University for the Creative Industries.

Marie-Claire said:

"I am delighted to have been invited onto the OCA Board as a trustee at such an important juncture in the development of the organisation. I look forward to contributing and sharing my knowledge and experiences of the creative industries, in particular video games, to this visionary and inclusive education provider. And look forward to working with Will Woods, Principal of OCA, and his team during this important new phase. Women in Games has strong connections with the Education sector through its Education Ambassador Programme and its partnerships with a wide range of universities and the research sector".

Welcoming Marie-Claire to the Board, Will Woods, OCA Principal, said:

"The Open College of the Arts is committing to a challenging Equality and Diversity action plan this year to increase diversity at all levels of the organisation. This is to ensure that decisions fully consider the issues that most directly impact those studying part time distance education today, and that decisions are taken with full knowledge of the implications on those with learning difficulties, and from groups where there are huge barriers to study.

With this in mind I'm hugely grateful to Marie-Claire for accepting the invitation to join the Board of Trustees to help us to develop programmes and courses that will increase the opportunities for women in the Creative Industries and to act as an ambassador for us in that space."

From August 2023, all Open College of the Arts honours and masters degrees became accredited by The Open University. To learn more about our creative arts courses through The Open College of the Arts, and how to apply, visit The Open College of the Arts website
