GSM-IT project presents interim findings to industry leaders and parliamentarians in the Houses of Parliament

GSM-IT members

On the 1st February, 2017, members of the GSM-IT team presented at the Industry and Parliamentary Trust's meeting on Digital Skills: Bridging the Gap for Women in Technology.

The meeting, which took place in the Houses of Parliament, focused on how the creation of a diverse workforce can harness a more productive, engaged and balanced workplace. It was attended by MPs from across all parties, and included industry leaders, and sector representatives, along with GSM-IT researchers.

The technology sector as an industry is an essential part of today’s society and the UK’s national infrastructure. In order to continue driving innovation, it is critical that the UK inspires a gender balanced workforce for future generations. This breakfast meeting explored how the UK can encourage more women to undertake careers in technology; considered what the UK can learn from countries with increased gender diversity; and discussed the wider benefits of creating a diverse workforce.
