OpenSpace member, Dr. Shonhil Bhagwat, publishes on climate change activism

Dr. Shonil Bhagwat's paper, The Idea of Climate Change as a Belief System, claims climate change activism has similarities to faith belief systems and might benefit from adopting a similar approach in its campaigning.  The research shows how discussions on climate change influence public opinion in much the same way as belief systems gain popularity and support.

The Open University interviewed Dr. Bhagwat about the paper and its key finding,

"Our analysis of climate change as a belief system suggests that addressing climate change may require a shift of focus to a very different level and through the grassroots actors rather than political leaders."
