I began my AHRC-funded PhD in 2014 and have recently submitted. I was awarded an MA with Distinction in English from the Open University in 2014. I have a background in policy planning at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office and have also worked as a secondary English teacher and Senior Examiner in A-level English Literature.
My PhD examines the cultural mythology around the nineteenth-century psychiatric disorder, 'monomania'. I am interested in intersections between (long) nineteenth-century literature and medicine, disease and addiction.
