Following a month-long tour of the country which concluded at COP26 in Glasgow last month, TOTEM LATAMAT – a 4.5m tall totem from Mexico – has been laid to rest at a special ceremony.

As part of this year’s UK Parliament Week, The Open University is working in collaboration with the UK Parliament and the Political Studies Association to launch a Changemakers guide – a step-by-step guide to making political and social change, from the initial stages of planning and research, to getting your MP on board, and other ways of having an impact, such as through social media.

Professor Giles Mohan’s contributions to development studies have been recognised this month with the conferring of a Fellowship from the Academy of Social Sciences.

FASS has just launched the second issue of its annual SSGS Magazine, offering staff, academics and students an insight into some of the cutting-edge work taking place across the eight disciplines in the School of Social Sciences and Global Studies. 

Dr Gemma Briggs, Head of Discipline in the School of Psychology & Counselling has won an O²RB Excellence in Impact Award 2021 for her research on the dangers of hands-free phone use.

Most successful OU CPD, created by Professor Naomi Moller and Dr Andreas Vossler is shortlisted for a Times Higher Education Award 2021.
