Book Launch: Remembering, Resisting: Realities of peoples' struggles under Marcos Jr.

Dates
Monday, March 24, 2025 - 12:00 to 13:30
Location
Online, via Microsoft Teams

For social movements and people’s organisations in the Philippines, Marcos Jr. does not differ from his dictator father nor his predecessor, and continues to weaponise counterinsurgency and counterterrorism policies to stifle resistance and dissent. Moreover, Marcos Jr. promotes the same neoliberal policies of austerity, liberalisation, privatisation, and deregulation for foreign private capital interests, which disenfranchise the majority of the Filipino people. IBON International is releasing a book of essays by activists, people’s organisations and civil society organisations in the Philippines to document people’s struggles that show the real face of the Philippines, as a way to challenge official state narratives of a better national situation. The book also aims to contribute to memory-making and efforts towards accountability and justice. It follows the series of publications on human rights violations under the Duterte administration.
