New OU/BBC Series: Our Coast

Our coast poster

Starting on Friday 7 February, a new four-part OU/BBC series “Our Coast” airs on BBC Two at 8:30pm (Saturday 8 February at 6:30pm in Wales only).

Adrian Chiles, Mehreen Baig and a team of experts explore four spectacular coastlines and meet the people who call them home.

Each episode sees our presenters uncover a variety of compelling stories in a new location, from the Merseyside shoreline in England, to Anglesey Island in Wales, the Ards Peninsula in Northern Ireland and Dumfries and Galloway on the west coast of Scotland.

Throughout, the team will join the locals and immerse themselves fully in the coastal way of life, from tackling unique jobs to experiencing close encounters with wildlife. They’ll uncover the fascinating history of each coastline and find out how its landscapes and livelihoods are being preserved for the future.

The series was commissioned by Broadcast and Partnerships and was produced with the support of the Faculty of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) and Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS). The OU Nominated Academics are Dr Marcus Badger (STEM) and Dr Vicky Johnson (FASS), and the Media Fellows are Dr Julia Cooke (STEM) and Dr Alison Penn (FASS).
