The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mary Kellett & FASS Executive Dean, Ian Fribbance continued to press the case for a more favourable funding and policy environment for part-time HE in England.
Last week, at a dinner in the House of Lords hosted by the OU's Chancellor Baroness Lane-Fox, a cross-party group of Peers discussed the reasons behind the decline in part-time study in England, as well as the recommendations the OU wants to see delivered as part of the Post-18 Review into education and funding. The Conservative Higher Education Spokesperson in the Lords, Viscount Younger, was also present and he heard that part-time education is needed now more than ever to support the social and economic challenges ahead.
