Prof. Elizabeth McKellar recently presented the annual lecture of The Society of Architectural Historians of Great Britain, of which she is President. The title of her lecture, ‘A wondrous bird is the Pelican’, referred to the critical role played by Penguin’s ‘Pelican’ series on the history of art and architecture in the post-war period. Her subject was particularly appropriate in the Society’s 70th anniversary year, focusing on both a period and scholars that were critical for the formation of British architectural history and its wider audience. More information about the talk is available on the Society's event page.
