Brand new short courses launching

The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) is launching three brand new short courses from the Music discipline.

The new courses set to launch in October 2022 are:

• Sound Systems in popular music: from Jamaican Dub to Stadium Rock 
• Dolly Parton: Music, Identity and Culture
• Computer Audio: sound and music in the digital world

Designed to cater for a variety of learners, these innovative VLE-based courses offer the opportunity to discover topics with 50 hours of study and a certificate of completion. 

These new courses will join the existing portfolio of Creative Writing and Film & Media courses. The Creative Writing (Introduction to Creative Writing and Travel Writing) and Film & Media (Media, Politics and Society and Reading the Screen: an Introduction to the Art of Film) courses were launched in 2021/22. 

Film and the environment also launches in October 2022 and A Story of Documentary Film short course is planned to launch in February 2023, with courses in Counselling and Environment and Sustainability also in development.
