Professor Catriona Havard’s research focuses on the complexities of face recognition, highlighting how and why errors occur in everyday life, criminal investigations, and technological systems. Her work emphasises the cognitive biases and neurological conditions that shape our ability to accurately identify faces, as well as the ethical challenges posed by facial recognition technology. In her public talk she offers valuable opportunities for students—especially those interested in psychology and the Facial Cognition Research Group (FCRG)—to engage with cutting-edge research and consider future pathways in the field.
