I was the Course Leader of the Master in Education and the Doctorate in Education programmes, and the Postgraduate Research Lead of the School of Social Sciences and Professions.
In my early career as a Researcher, I worked at Cardiff University, Lancaster University and Sheffield University. I was also Senior Researcher at the Learning and Skills Network (LSN) managing/delivering educational projects, and conducting research and evaluation studies in Further and Higher Education. Here I was responsible for the management of the operational requirements of key national educational programmes.
My main research interest is the pedagogy of social research methodologies, educational issues, and children and young people’s lived experience.
I am currently Deputy Chair of the module Social research: Crime, justice and society (DD215) and since January 2023, I am the Postgraduate Research Convenor of Social Policy and Criminology. I was member of the DD215 module production team, DD212 and DD105 module presentation team, and DD105 Mid-Life Review Team. I am also an Associate Lecturer tutoring the module: Issues in research with children and young people (EK313) in the School of Education, Childhood, Youth and Sport (ECYS).
I welcome PhD students interested in educational research (including higher education), childhood research, and students who are willing to contribute to the theoretical and methodological advancements in the sociology of education and sociology of childhood.
