I joined the OU in 2001 as an Associate Lecturer in Social Sciences. While fulfilling that role I was also a lecturer, and then senior lecturer, in Social Sciences in FE. I became a Staff Tutor in Economics at the OU in October 2020. I have a number of honours degrees: BA Business Studies, BSc Mathematical Studies, BA Open Degree and BA History and Philosophy. I am currently studying for an LLB. I also have two post grad teaching degrees: one is Teaching in Further Education and the other is Teaching English as a Second Language.
My current research interests include the impacts of the entanglements of austerity and COVID-19 on marginalised communities, the case of Glasgow Pollok and also the Economics of Happiness relating to community gardens and community energy projects. I also have an interest in research concerning partnerships and sharing good practice between FE and HE.
I teach on a number of modules in economics and social sciences, including DB125 'You and Your Money', for which I am the Chair (J presentation).
