Nelli Stavropoulou is a Post-Doctoral Research Associate for the Centre for Protecting Women Online. She is a participatory arts-based researcher and a creative facilitator, whose work explores and re-visits the intersections between storytelling, self-representation, and creative expression across social, biographical and creative spaces. Previous work includes participatory arts-based research with children and young people from a migrant and refugee background in education (New ABC - Networking the educational world: Across boundaries for community-building), as well as biographical creative research with individuals seeking asylum in the UK.
Nelli's research interests focus on processes of storytelling, self-representation, lived experiences of forced displacement and marginalisation, and arts-based methodological approaches. Her creative work and research practice are underpinned by participatory action research principles with a focus on co-creation and visual methods.
Nelli is a proud Trustee of Durham City of Sanctuary.
