Daniel is a PhD student at the Open University supported by the Open-Oxford-Cambridge AHRC Doctoral Training Partnership. As a seasoned performer rooted in popular music, jazz, and gospel music, Daniel's artistic journey has evolved into a specialised focus on 20th and 21st-century contemporary music performance as the guitarist and producer for the internationally acclaimed Distractfold Ensemble. Complementing his practical experiences, Daniel’s research aims to further theorise the electric guitar within the field of Western art music through a bridging of diverse musical understandings to the benefit of current and future practitioners in the field.
