Baseerit is a Lecturer in Economics and Staff Tutor in Social Sciences at the Open University. Prior to joining the Open University, she was an Assistant Professor in Economics at Coventry University for over a decade before which she held a Research Fellow position in Management School at the University of Sheffield under EPSCR funded project on "voiceYourView" on making public places safe. The Research Fellow position was originally with the Aston Business school, Aston University, which she had obtained after completing her PhD.
She has authored chapters in undergraduate Economics textbooks and led on the development of new MSc course in Economics.

Baseerit's research interests can generally fall within Economic Justice focusing on income and wealth inequalities; country level debt, particularly developing countries indebtedness and debt crisis.
Baseerit has designed and delivered undergraduate and postgraduate modules on various courses in Economics. Her teaching has been on the topics of Econometrics and Quantitative Methods.
She has also authored a chapter as well as developed the associated digital learning material for the second level undergraduate textbook for module Running the Economy.
Furthermore, she is lead for the teaching strategy and accessibility for the postgraduate level. course in Economics.
Integral part of the design and development team from its initial stage for student support scheme replacing the traditional Academic Personal Tutorship with Progress Coaches and operationalising the initiative for the largest school in the Faculty of Business and Law, Coventry University.
