My initial research interests centred on literacy as a tool for empowerment for women in developing countries. This developed further into an understanding of gender relations within NGOs and how these relations manifest themselves in policy and practice. More recently I have carried out research into gender inequalities within The OU with a focus on the Professorial community.
I have also carried out scholarship with a particular focus on how teachers develop an online identity and more recently on different pedagogies used for teaching on FutureLearn
I remain Staff Tutor for Development Policy and Practice ensuring our students have a positive experience on the MSc in Global Development, In addition, I am Module Chair for two modules, D890 Global Development Management on the FutureLearn platform and DD870 Understanding global challenges which is presented on the OU VLE.
