I’m a part-time PhD student in the Department of Classical Studies at The Open University working under the supervision of Professor Phil Perkins & Dr E-J Graham. My research project examines new materialist approaches to sensory change in Etruscan tombs of the Orientalising & Archaic periods.
I have wide interests in the field of sensory studies having completed my masters thesis on intersensoriality in Roman gardens of the late republic & early imperial period. I’m specifically interested in how sensory methodologies can be applied to the critical evaluation of archaeological assemblages in Etruscan mortuary contexts & how change in these assemblages is reflected in sensory narratives of place.
