This two-day online interdisciplinary conference, which took place on 17th and 18th December 2021, marked the first year of the British Chinese Studies Network. It was themed around new research on ‘Chinese Britain’ and focused on the culture and history of East and Southeast Asian and Chinese migrant and diasporic communities in Britain. The conference drew on research for the forthcoming British Library exhibition ‘Chinese Britain’, but also fostered and publicised existing and new research across literary studies, art history, material culture, social and cultural history, and the social sciences. The conference included a special creative writing plenary panel.
