The Chartered Society of Forensic Science Conference 2024

The Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences, originally founded in 1959 as the Forensic Science Society, has become a leading professional body with a worldwide membership. In 2014, it was granted a Royal Charter and became The Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences. This registered charity is committed to integrity, impartiality, and professional development, providing opportunities for practitioners, academics, and interested parties to congregate, communicate, and collaborate.

The Charted Society of Forensic Sciences organised its annual conference at Leeds Horizon on 18 October 2024 on the topic of ‘Collaboration: the cornerstone of forensic science’. Dr Violeta Kapageorgiadou from the Trust in Forensic Science project and Dr Cathy O’Brien from the Triage project had the opportunity to give a joint presentation on ‘A Collaborative Approach to Understanding Digital Triage and Trust in Forensic Science’.

The presentation discusses the collaboration between the two projects from their inception at a Sandpit event to their completion in spring 2025. The objective of the presentation is to demonstrate the value of collaborative approaches in gaining a comprehensive understanding of complex phenomena across diverse fields and to contribute to discussions on best practices in collaborative research.
