Dr Lara Frumkin, Senior Lecturer in Psychology and Co-Director of the Harm and Evidence Research Collective (HERC) has secured funding of almost £50k to lead a 2-year project looking at digital technologies, power and control.

Funding has come from SPRITE+, an EPSRC funded NetworkPlus addressing trust, identity, privacy, and security with a focus on digital contexts.

This piece of research will cover topics that seek to achieve outcomes that:

  1. create empowered, informed communities with the knowledge and ability to make choices about the impact of future technologies;
  2. prevent future technologies deepening the digital divide;
  3. and address how will marginalised voices be heard.

Dr Frumkin says: “This important work will help provide a conduit between those who are marginalised from having a voice on issues around security, trust, privacy and identity in developing technologies with industry partners who create cutting edge platforms for everyday use.”
