Away Day: ‘Kimono: Kyoto to Catwalk’ exhibition at the V&A

The GOTH Away Day for 2019/20 will be held at the V&A museum in London. The programme for the day is as follows:

For 11.00 start - Assemble under Chihuly chandelier (Cromwell Road entrance)

11.00 – 11.30: Introduction to the exhibition Kimono: Kyoto to Catwalk (https://www.vam.ac.uk/exhibitions/kimono-kyoto-to-catwalk) with its Curator, Anna Jackson (Keeper of the Asian Department)

11.45 – 13.00: Visit to Kimono: Kyoto to Catwalk accompanied by Clare Taylor (Art History) and Ursula Rothe (Classical Studies)

13.00 – 4.00: Lunch in V&A Cafe (self-service)

14.15 – 15.30: Discussion of gendered issues raised by the wrapped body across global traditions, exploring works in the museum’s permanent galleries with Ursula and Clare

15.30 – 16.00: Follow-up discussion over tea.
