Signs of social and political disengagement are growing, from the 2024 election’s relatively low voter turnout to a sharp decline since COVID in volunteering. This is raising difficult questions about the purpose and benefits of political and social engagement, particularly in a time roiled by anxieties around climate change and increasingly turbulent geopolitics. This roundtable will showcase current research from across the OU focused on engaging disengaged citizens across various contexts.
