Join GOTH for a viewing of the recorded livestreamed production of Medea LIVE presented by By Jove Theatre Company. The production is a new adaptation of Euripides' tragedy written by Wendy Haines and was first performed by By Jove Theatre Company in 2017; this production was performed live in the actors' homes by the original cast in the midst of lockdown on 14th June 2020, and was livestreamed on Youtube. After the viewing, join other GOTH members on Microsoft Teams for a discussion of the production.
5pm: Watch Medea LIVE via YouTube.
Please be aware this is a recording of a previous livestream, and thus can be paused, rewound, etc. You are welcome to watch the production any time, but please do watch it before coming to the discussion group. The production itself is 45 minutes long, though the livestream itself also includes a post-show discussion which we will not be watching as part of this event; please do feel free to watch this in your own time if you are interested.
6pm: Join GOTH for a discussion of the show on Microsoft Teams.
The email address you use to sign up for this event will be added to a meeting in Microsoft Teams and you will receive an invitation to join the discussion.
The discussion will be moderated by Christine Plastow, a member of both the GOTH Steering Committee and By Jove, and a Lecturer in Classical Studies.
Teams can be downloaded as an app or accessed through a web browser. You will receive the link earlier in the day on 21st October, and we recommend clicking on it to check that you can access it prior to the meeting itself (you will be taken to a waiting room - if you see a message that 'you will be let into the meeting soon' you're in the right place!) You will be able to join the discussion by using the 'raise hand' feature, at which point the moderator will call on you to turn on your microphone and speak.
