UK team collaborating in a two day photo exhibition at Walthamstow market

Gunvor Jónsson and Sophie Watson from The Open University collaborated with two local artists – Llyod and Lourice Ramos for organizing a two day photo exhibition at Walthamstow market. Lloyds and Lourice have been taking photographs in the market for several years now and decided to exhibit them as postcards and posters in a pop-up stall together with Gunvor and Sophie who had written a booklet for this occasion. The booklet is the product of many interviews with local traders and hours spent in the market over the last couple of years. Walthamstow is one of the oldest and longest markets in the UK which has seen many changes over the years with the growth of supermarkets and internet shopping. But it still thrives despite all these threats. In the short booklet you hear about the lives of some of the traders. Many locals and visitors stopped by the stall and bought items from the exhibition and talked to the researchers and the UK MMP team.
