Through accessible and engaging art, we capture moments in time, giving us a diverse lens through which to gaze.
Beyond the Now is a new social art practice collaboration providing a platform for art that responds to the COVID-19 crisis. Staff Tutor and Lecturer in Art History, Dr Kim Charnley, leading from The Open University, describes in his blog how the project came to be, its intentions and his hopes for how it might be received.
Season 1 of ‘Beyond the Now’, titled ‘Interdependence’ launches today, commencing with three commissions created in response to the pandemic from artists Ashish Ghadiali, Gregory Sholette, and Jeanne van Heeswijk. There will be further contributions from artists, arts professionals and cultural activists in November and December, to complete the season.
