Location
BP Lecture Theatre, The British Museum Great Russell Street London WC1B 3DG

Study Day with The Open University on Myth in the Greek and Roman world.

Why do myths exist, how did they develop and what do they tell us about ourselves?

Looking at the ancient Greek poet Homer and his world, we will see how myths became a means of understanding the world, people and events.

How were some of these so powerful that they were absorbed into Roman culture too? We will look particularly at the myths of Troy, the Trojan Wars, heroes, gods, dynasties and relationships.

Gods of Athens will feature strongly. Aeneas, Apollo, Athena and Zeus will have starring roles.

If you are interested in attending, please book your place by visiting British Museum website.
