Professional biography

I am currently a part-time PhD student in the Department of English, and also studied for my MA in Literature at The Open University.

Research interest

The working title of my thesis is, ‘Narrating Modernity: Agency, Reform and Nationhood in Indian Women’s Writing in English, 1870-1947’.

My research examines texts across different genres, and asks:

  • What writing strategies did Indian women adopt to promote their political and social aims?
  • To what extent did their writing influence, or intersect with, dominant discourses on reform and anti-colonial nationalism?
