In these hostile times for immigration and in the middle of the Windrush debate, six women are rising from the margins to perform the question:
Can an Immigrant, a Woman, a Black Body ever be a citizen?
A citizenship contest will unfold in front of your eyes! Which of these migrant women will make the most convincing case to win the best citizen award! As citizenship ceases to be a right and becomes a competition for the most lucky, skilled and resourceful, who will you vote for?
Arising from a research project on Participatory Arts and Social Research led by Dr. Umut Erel, Sociology, Maggie O'Neill, University of York and Tracey Reynolds, University of Greenwich, Erene Kaptani with a group of participants has devised a performance piece on migrant women and citizenship, to be shown at Rich Mix, London, 31 January 2019. All welcome!
Book tickets and please forward it to your networks. It has been an extraordinary process working with this group of women who decided to put themselves out there and devise this play with Erene Kaptani! Not to be missed!
