Three OU historians have published a special issue of the Historical Association’s magazine The Historian to mark the four hundredth anniversary of Charles I’s accession to the thrones of Britain and Ireland. The issue contains a historiographical review by Professor Michael Questier and articles by Dr Charlotte Brownhill, Dr Chris R Langley and Dr Sara Wolfson on political, court and religious culture. The magazine also offers a Q&A with colleagues from Royal Historic Palaces, the National Records of Scotland, the Bodleian Library and the National Civil War Centre. The issue builds on the ‘Charles 400’ workshop, held at Goldsmiths, University of London, in 2024, which was funded by OpenARC.
