The Objects, Collections and Museums Research Group is an interdisciplinary network that brings together researchers from across the Open University whose work engages with material things, the curatorial practices that define them, and the museums and collections that house them.
Our members’ interests encompass a wide range of topics, including, but not limited to, the legacies of colonialism on museums, the interpretation and reception of objects, the history of collections and collecting, and the social role of museums.
Our aims are to develop new and innovative research, organise in-person and online events, showcase members’ publications and related outputs, and support collaboration and networking.
The group is convened by Dr Amy Jane Barnes and Dr Amanda Sciampacone. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with Amy or Amanda if you would like further information about the group or would be interested in joining us.
