Professional Biography

I am currently a PhD candidate at The Open University. My PhD project focuses on prisoners and higher education in prisons. My supervisors are Dr Deborah Drake, Dr Daniel McCulloch and Dr Carly Speed.

Research Interest

I am keenly interested in whether the twin concepts of ‘punishment’ and ‘rehabilitation’ can co-exist by exploring prisoners’ experiences of higher education. In particular, to what extent does higher education help to change the self-perception and identity of people in prison. This in turn can reduce the likelihood of reoffending in future.

Teaching

I am currently an associate lecturer in Criminology at The Open University.
