The Place is Here: The Work of Black Artists in 1980s Britain has won the Historians of British Art Book Award, Multi-Authored Book Prize for books published in 2019.

Professor Wainwright contributed a chapter on artist Mona Hatoum for this volume and the History of Art department is delighted to learn of this award. Established in 1992, Historians of British Art (HBA) is an affiliate society of the North-America-based College Art Association (CAA). HBA promotes scholarship and other professional endeavours related to British art and architecture, broadly conceived in terms of place and time.
