The Department of Economics invites applications for research students in the following areas. Please visit the individual staff profiles for further information on research interests.
The department has particular strengths in a number of areas but particularly:
In the Department of Economics, we tend to take on students whose research topics are closely related to our own current research interests. This enables students to be part of a real research programme and allows members of the department to provide appropriate support based on current research experience. A number of students are part-time and based in other countries and in these cases we like them to be working in environments that will be supportive and ideally closely related to their research.
Staff are trained in a variety of different techniques in economics, including both quantitative and qualitative approaches.
Normally students who come to us will already have a masters in economics with a high score in the project or thesis component of that degree. In the majority of cases, you will already have developed good technical skills in economic analysis.
