Open Ecologies is a collaborative research group that focuses on questions of environmental change and ecological thinking through history, in the present, and into the future.
The group understands these urgent issues in an expanded sense that crosses disciplinary boundaries, making connections between research in the School of Arts and Humanities (A&H), the School of Social Sciences and Global Studies (SSGS), and the Faculty of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) at The Open University. Together, we aim to bring academic research into the public sector, guided by a commitment to dialogue and exchange.
The group holds informal monthly and bi-monthly meetings that include thematic seminars around particular themes that bring together members across disciplines. We are always keen to hear about new work being done elsewhere in higher education and beyond. The current co-convenors are Professor George Revill and Dr Maria Nita. If you’re interested in joining the group, or just finding out more, please get in touch by email.
We are interested in drawing together a rich array of topics and methods, so do please contact us if there is a project you might like to present to the group.
