Getting Involved

Practitioners

The Environmental Impact of Filmmaking project would like to speak to practitioners with a range of experiences in the film/screen sector to support research into prop and costume making.

Between October 2022 and August 2023, we’ll be conducting one-to-one interviews (for people who have contributed in some capacity to the Star Wars franchise) and focus group sessions (for UK-based professionals with any film or television experience). If you’re interested in sharing your insights or experiences in one of these forums, you’ll find more information and application forms below.

Interviews

We're currently interviewing people who have worked on the Star Wars franchise in any capacity related to prop/costume/set design, sourcing materials, fabrication, archiving, the disposal of physical props and costumes, and VFX work. We’re looking to speak to people across a range of job roles and contract types and from different points in time. You don't need to have expertise in environmental or sustainability issues for your insights to be valuable to the project, and your interview could help preserve under-recorded aspects of the production process for future generations.

The project's ethics clearance and data protection information is available via the Interview Participant Information Sheet, which can be accessed and downloaded via the link below. If you'd like to contribute an interview, or if you have any questions about participating, please email Rebecca Harrison.

Focus group

We're setting up a focus group that will feature professionals from across the screen industries at different career stages, from students to CEOs. We'd like to find out what conversations people are having about sustainability, what resources and support they need to achieve their aims, and to test project resources. It's an opportunity to influence and preview the resources we create, and to network with people from other areas of the industry. You don't need expertise in environmental or sustainability issues to apply, although some interest will help.

We are looking for 6-12 contributors people with a range of experiences, including but not limited to: the design, sourcing materials, fabrication, VFX, archiving, licensing IP, and disposal of props and costumes. Members of the group will be asked to attend three online sessions. We can offer £20/hour in vouchers for up to 6 hours of your time, which will include the meetings and reading some project materials.

If you’re interested in joining the focus group, you'll find information about our ethics clearance, data protection and confidentiality in the Focus Group Participant Information Sheet. You can apply using the Focus Group CFP Form. Both documents are available to download at the bottom of this section. You can send completed forms or any questions you have by email to Rebecca Harrison
